While working on a client’s severe weather response plan, I decided to revisit some Hurricane Safety Apps Designed To Keep Us Safe. A few years ago, while working on a similar project, I discovered a few dozen apps in the Apps Store and Google Play.
If you Google “Hurricane Safety Apps” you receive About 25,800,000 results in 0.56 seconds. But how do you know which app or apps are best for you? It’s not an easy task, which is why the team at LARGO Consulting Services can help you alleviate the guesswork.
If you’re like me, your phone has become indispensable especially, when you are tracking potentially dangerous summer storms. Having apps at the tip of my fingers that allow me to track storms that could adversely impact my family or our clients across the country are priceless.
However, apps cannot replace a proper emergency response plan. They are merely another tool in your toolbox to help keep you, your family, students, and employees safe during an emergency.
So, stay safe this hurricane season, keep your smartphone charged and download the hurricane safety apps designed to keep us safe.
Hurricane Safety Apps Designed To Keep Us Safe #1
The NOAA Radar Pro Weather Alerts App from Apalon Apps provides a Hurricane Tracking feature along with detailed weather forecasting. The app is not free, but it is feature-rich and “is a powerful yet easy-to-use weather station right on your device. Real-time animated weather radar images on a highly interactive map enhanced with severe weather warnings and alerts won’t let bad weather take you by surprise!”
Hurricane Safety Apps Designed To Keep Us Safe #2
The FEMA App from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The app is described as “The FEMA App is the best option to receive emergency alerts and information so that you and your loved ones know what to do before, during and after disasters. This simple and easy-to-use app provides safety notifications, emergency preparedness tips, and disaster resources.”
Hurricane Safety Apps Designed To Keep Us Safe #3
The American Red Cross Hurricane App allows you to monitor hurricane conditions locally and provides information on shelter locations. I am concerned about recent reviews but tested my version of the app, and it worked fine, it’s free so give it a shot.
You can download the American Red Cross App and the other mentioned apps from the App Store or at Google Play.
I love my apps, but as a security professional, I know that nothing can replace a good preparedness plan that you practice with your family, students, and employees. Be sure to visit our virtual resource center for help when putting your plan together.
