Today’s Security Cameras Are Business Smart
BLOGS AND NEWS | December 2, 2023

Security cameras provide much more than a deterrent to criminal activity. Gone are the days of cameras relying on human intervention with the hope of capturing an incident in progress.

I don’t miss the days of hoping to get lucky that a PTZ camera captured an incident. Most of the time, the PTZ camera was not in a position to capture the incident, or the security officer forgot to put it back on its video patrol. Yes, I am dating myself. I’ve witnessed the advancement of video surveillance technologies over the last 40 years, and I see no reason to go back.

Today’s video surveillance cameras do more than monitor locations remotely, which brings us to the point of this blog – smart cameras are a powerful business tool that captures a lot of data through robust video analytics and AI.

Smart Surveillance, Smarter Decisions

The use of smart camera technology allows businesses to capture data that can then be turned into actionable insights for improving business and security operations. Through the tracking of human behaviors, organizations can positively impact the bottom line through resource and operational optimization.

Customer Insights: Tailoring the Experience

Cameras can now learn customer behaviors, help identify the most suitable product placement locations, high-traffic areas, and possible criminal activity, and provide data that allows businesses to tailor their operations to improve the bottom line.

Operational Efficiency: Maximizing Resources

Video analytics and AI can provide real-time data on a company’s security and business operations. Video surveillance systems enable businesses to streamline processes, security officer deployment, employee productivity, and inventory levels. Maximizing resource and operational efficiencies can offset the cost of the camera by providing a measurable ROI.

Preventing Losses: Proactive Security Measures

Security cameras can mitigate potential threats and financial loss through the use of facial recognition, video analytics, behavioral analytics, and artificial intelligence. They also place eyes on valuable assets, saving companies from potential financial losses from criminal activity.

Conclusion: Investing in Intelligence

Smart cameras, video analytics, and AI can provide valuable insight into human behaviors, operational efficiencies, and potential security threats. Cameras have become a strategic partner in acting not only as a security deterrent but as valuable data-gathering tools that can positively impact the bottom line.
